DIY LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER SPRAY RECIPE

Dealing with dry, tangled hair is never fun, especially for anyone with a young daughter. Thankfully, there’s a simple, natural solution to both problems.

In my all-natural hair care routine, I mentioned how much I love tallow balm for occasional deep nourishment for the ends of my hair. However, for daily use, I prefer something lighter.

This DIY leave-in conditioner spray is made with coconut milk, which provides just the right amount of moisture without being too heavy—unlike coconut oil. I also like to add bergamot essential oil, which not only helps control frizz but also leaves a fresh, pleasant scent.

Skip the toxins

While there are plenty of hair conditioning and detangling options at the drugstore, many of them contain questionable ingredients. I personally don’t feel comfortable using those on myself or my family, so I prefer to make our hair care products at home instead.

How to use it

This DIY leave-in conditioner spray can be used on both wet and dry hair. I typically apply it to my hair when it’s wet and let it air dry. If I notice any frizz afterward, I’ll spritz a bit more on dry hair to help calm and smooth it.

Personalize it

There are plenty of other essential oils that are great for hair as well. Peppermint and rosemary are fantastic options to consider. Feel free to experiment and discover which oils work best for you and your hair!

Which coconut milk?

I find that canned coconut milk works best for this DIY recipe. It’s important to choose one without thickeners or other additives, like this option. Trader Joe’s also offers a great organic canned coconut milk at an affordable price.

Preserve it

Like any product made with water, this DIY leave-in conditioner spray needs a preservative to stay fresh at room temperature. I like to use this one in my products because it’s very natural while still being effective.

If you prefer not to use a preservative, you can simply store your leave-in conditioner spray in the refrigerator. Just be aware that you’ll need to let it warm up a bit before spraying, as the coconut milk may solidify when chilled. When I’ve used this without a preservative, I leave the bottle on the bathroom counter while I take a shower. By the time I’m finished, it has warmed up enough to spray easily.

HOW TO USE ROSEMARY OIL FOR HAIR TO GET THE FASTEST RESULTS

Imagine having thick and healthy hair flowing down your shoulders – it’s not just a dream, it can be a reality. Rosemary oil can help you achieve the hair you desire. This special oil comes from the fragrant rosemary plant and has been a favorite beauty secret for a long time, and for good reasons. Join us to find out why rosemary oil is loved for promoting beautiful hair growth.

WHAT IS ROSEMARY OIL?

Let’s start with the basics. Rosemary oil, originating from the Mediterranean region, is described by cosmetic chemist Ginger King as “a light liquid derived from the rosemary plant with a herbal scent.” This versatile oil is commonly found in perfumes, skincare, and haircare due to its qualities as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial ingredient.

IS ROSEMARY GOOD FOR HAIR

Yes, rosemary has been used for centuries as a natural hair remedy, and there’s growing scientific evidence to back it up. Here are some of the potential benefits of rosemary for hair

Stimulates Hair Growth

Rosemary oil is like a boost for your hair! It does this by making the blood flow better on your scalp, which is the skin on top of your head. When the blood flows well, it brings lots of good stuff (we call them nutrients) to the roots of your hair. So, with rosemary oil, your hair gets all the good things it needs, and that makes it healthier and stronger. It’s like giving your hair a special treat to help it grow and be really nice!

Prevents Hair Loss

Using rosemary oil regularly can be like giving your hair a superhero shield! Because of this, many people choose rosemary oil for hair loss. It makes your hair roots, called hair follicles, really strong. This helps a lot in preventing hair loss. So, by using rosemary oil regularly, you can keep your hair strong and make sure it stays on your head, giving you full and beautiful hair.

Improves Scalp Health

Hey, did you know something cool about rosemary oil? Besides doing the two things we talked about earlier, it’s also like a superhero against dandruff! Rosemary oil has this power to fight off bacteria, which can help get rid of dandruff and other not-so-fun things on your scalp. It’s like a cleaning crew for your head, making sure everything is nice and healthy. Everytime you use rosemary oil, it’s not just about making your hair happy, but you’re also giving your scalp the best, cleanest space to be awesome!

Strengthens Hair

Another really special thing about rosemary oil is its antioxidant properties. These antioxidants act like a barrier that protects your hair from damage, making it really strong and preventing bad effects. So when you use rosemary oil, your hair will become soft, shiny, and super strong, ready to face anything and look amazing at the same time.

Conditions Hair

Rosemary oil can be used as a natural conditioner, making hair softer and more manageable. When added to hair care products, it imparts fragrance and harnesses the benefits of being a natural hair care product, free from silicon and other harmful chemicals.

Adds Shine

This magical oil can make your hair look extra shiny and healthy, like it’s glowing! If you use rosemary oil often, it’s like adding a touch of magic to your hair, making it sparkle and look really, really nice. It’s an easy way to make your hair shine and feel super healthy!

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW BEFORE USING ROSEMARY OIL?

Don’t let essential oil get in your eyes. If it happens, wash your eyes with cold water. Also, don’t put too much on your scalp. Rosemary essential oil can sometimes make your skin feel funny, but it’s not harmful. To be safe and prevent skin issues, mix the oil with another oil or product before using it.

We don’t know for sure if it’s safe to use rosemary essential oils when pregnant or breastfeeding. Even though it’s only used on the outside for hair loss, it’s better to be careful since we’re not sure about its effects in these situations.

HOW DO YOU USE ROSEMARY OIL FOR HAIR GROWTH?

Mix it with a carrier oil

Mix the rosemary essential oil with another oil. You should start with one to two times per week and increase it daily as you get used to it. Use only five drops, add it to a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba, massage it on your scalp for five to ten minutes, and then rinse. Diluting the pure rosemary oil makes it less strong and lowers the chance of irritating your skin.

Massage into Scalp

Gently massage the oil mixture into your scalp using your fingertips. Focus on the areas where you want to encourage hair growth. Allow the oil to sit on your scalp for at least 30 minutes. For even better results, you can leave it on overnight by wearing a shower cap to protect your pillow.

Shampoo and Condition

After the waiting period, wash your hair as usual with a mild shampoo and conditioner to remove the oil. Rosemary oil is very easily washed out.  For noticeable results, use this treatment regularly. Applying it 2-3 times a week should be sufficient.

Add to Hair Products

You can also add a few drops of rosemary oil directly to your regular shampoo or conditioner for convenient daily use. You might be surprised by how effective this method is.

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED TO USE ROSEMARY OIL TO SEE HAIR GROWTH?

Using rosemary oil won’t magically make everyone’s hair super long—it depends on how your hair reacts. If you’re hoping for longer hair, you’ll have to be patient. It could take more than six months of using it to see any changes. So, if you’re dreaming of longer locks, be prepared to give it some time.
