PETITE HACK FOR WEARING LONG PANTS WITH FLAT SHOES

Over the weekend, I shared an outfit I’ve been loving: pairing looser trousers with sneakers—something I wouldn’t have considered a couple of years ago. While these pants are best suited for heels due to their length, I discovered a little trick that makes them work with sneakers! Check out my IG reel to see the look.

Initially, I bought heel lifts because I have low ankles, which often leads to discomfort with many shoes. An unexpected benefit of these lifts is that they help prevent pant hems from dragging on the ground! I’m currently using heel lifts that are 3.3 cm (1.3 inches) tall, along with the lower AdjustaLifts for a slight boost when I need it to avoid ankle rubbing. I’ve tried several brands, and these two are my favorites because they’re slim and fit well inside my shoes, unlike others that were too wide.

While these lifts won’t solve the issue for pants that are several inches too long, they definitely help, especially when paired with platform sneakers for an extra inch of height. If you missed it, be sure to check out my original shoe hacks post where I featured these!

Also, I wanted to mention that my Everlane cardigan was just restocked for the season in three neutral colors. I got mine over a year ago, and it’s a lovely chunky cotton knit that’s medium to heavy in weight. For a more budget-friendly, non-cotton option, I recently picked up this waffle crop cardigan, which I absolutely love! It’s soft, has a slightly oversized boyfriend style but remains petite-friendly in length, and I adore the waffle texture.

Use Heel Lifts

One effective trick is to invest in heel lifts. These small inserts can add height and help keep your pant hems from dragging. Look for ones that fit comfortably in your shoes—brands that offer a slimmer fit tend to work best.

Opt for Platform Sneakers

Choose sneakers with a slight platform. This extra height will help balance the longer length of your pants while providing additional comfort.

Cuff or Tuck

Consider cuffing the hem of your pants or tucking them slightly into your sneakers. This creates a stylish look while keeping the pants from overwhelming your frame.

Tailor Your Trousers

If your pants are significantly too long and loose, consider getting them tailored. A quick hem can ensure a perfect fit without sacrificing style.

conclusion

In conclusion, achieving the perfect balance between long pants and sneakers as a petite person is entirely possible with a few clever styling tricks. By incorporating heel lifts for added height, opting for platform sneakers, and considering options like cuffing or tailoring, you can enjoy this trendy look without worrying about the hems dragging. Embrace your style and feel confident in wearing long trousers with sneakers—it’s all about finding what works best for you!
