Today, I’m excited to share our lovely nature-inspired confetti wands! With plenty of cardboard around, I always try to reuse as much as possible, and crafting with the kids is a perfect way to give it a second life.
Using my Cricut machine, I cut out four stars as the base for our wands. During a recent walk at Dudmaston National Trust, we gathered leaves and sticks to incorporate into our project. You might have caught glimpses of this outing on Instagram, where I also shared some delightful slow-motion videos of the kids joyfully tossing leaves and playing outdoors.
This is such a simple and fun activity! The children spread some PVA glue onto their cardboard stars and sprinkled them with leaf confetti. The confetti made from leaves turned out to be such a lovely crafting material that I’ll definitely be collecting more over the next few weeks for our future creative projects.
Once the PVA glue had dried and the leaf confetti was securely in place, I used a glue gun to attach the stars to the twigs we had collected. It’s best to use thicker, straighter sticks, as they provide better support and allow for a sturdier connection to the star.
My boys, who are usually quite heavy-handed, gave them a good test—and I’m happy to report that they’ve held up perfectly, with no breakages so far!
We even took the wands along on our next nature walk. I absolutely love this time of year here in the UK. The cooler days, paired with a clear blue sky like today’s, make it perfect for wandering for miles and soaking in the season.
