In just a few minutes and with minimal ingredients, you can whip up the crispiest, most delicious tofu covered in a sweet, umami-packed sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal, this crispy tofu will be a new favorite in no time!
Ingredients
- 396 g firm tofu (e.g., Cauldron tofu or any preferred firm tofu)
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
Method
- Prepare the Tofu: Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Squeeze gently and pat with kitchen towel. Cut into cubes and place in a large bowl. Coat the tofu with 1 tbsp soy sauce and toss to combine.
- Coat with Cornflour: Using a sieve, sprinkle the cornflour over the tofu, tossing occasionally to ensure an even coat.
- Fry the Tofu: Heat rapeseed oil in a non-stick frying pan over high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes, spreading them out so they’re not touching. Fry for about 3 minutes until golden brown and crispy on one side.
- Add Sauce: Drizzle the remaining soy sauce and honey into the pan. Gently rotate the tofu, frying until at least two sides are crispy.
- Serving: Serve the crispy tofu over rice, noodles, in a salad, or with roasted soy vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Press the tofu before frying to ensure a crispy crust.
- Choose your preferred firmness of tofu for best results.
- A non-stick pan is recommended to prevent sticking and maintain tofu integrity.
- Season the cornflour with spices (e.g., garlic powder, paprika) for an extra flavor boost.
