PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

Front Panel (Make 2)

  • Start: Using the 3.5 mm hook, make a slip knot and chain 20 (for size small to medium).
  • Row 1: Single crochet (sc) in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. Ch 1, turn.
  • Row 2–3: Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.
  • Row 4 (Lace Row): Double crochet (dc) in the first stitch, ch 1, sk 1, dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Ch 2, turn.
  • Row 5: Dc in the first stitch, ch 1, dc in the chain space from the previous row. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Ch 1, turn.
  • Row 6–7: Sc in each stitch and chain across. Ch 1, turn after each row.
  • Row 8: Dc in the first stitch, ch 1, sk 1, dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Ch 2, turn.
  • Row 9: Dc in the first stitch, ch 1, dc in the chain space from the previous row. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Ch 1, turn.
  • Row 10: Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.
  • Rows 11–12 (Adding Slope):
    • Row 11: Sc in each stitch across, making 2 sc in each of the last two stitches. Ch 1, turn.
    • Row 12: Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.
  • Row 13 and Beyond: Repeat Rows 11–12 until the panel is 14–15 inches wide. Fasten off.

Back Panel

  • Start: Using the 3.5 mm hook, make a slip knot and chain approximately 60 (to match the width of the front panels).
  • Row 1: Dc in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. Ch 2, turn.
  • Row 2 and Beyond: Dc in each stitch across. Ch 2, turn. Repeat until the panel measures 11 inches long. Fasten off.

Assembly

  • Lay the two front panels on top of the back panel.
  • Use the yarn needle to sew the shoulders and sides, leaving a 6-inch opening for the armholes.

Adding Short Sleeves

  • Join new yarn at any point around the armhole.
  • Work 1 round of sc around the armhole.
  • Add 2 more rounds of sc, working in a spiral.
  • Chain 2, then work 1 dc, sk 1, 1 dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * for the round.
  • Work 1 dc in each space of the previous round until the end of the round. Fasten off.

Gauge

  • Front panel: 4 sc x 3 rows = 1 inch.
  • Back panel: 3 dc = 1 inch.
