COPYCAT CINNABON CINNAMON ROLLS RECIPE

I’m thrilled to share this homemade cinnamon rolls recipe with you! These Copycat Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls are so delicious, they’ll make you feel like you’re in heaven.

INGREDIENTS

Cinnabon Dough:

  • 1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup softened butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups flour

Cinnamon Roll Filling:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup softened butter

Cinnabon Icing: (Feel free to double this for extra icing!)

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup cream cheese
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ⅛ tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Making the Dough:

  • Dissolve the yeast in warm milk in a large mixing bowl.
  • In another bowl, combine sugar, butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Mix thoroughly.
  • Add the yeast and milk mixture to the dry ingredients. If using a stand mixer, attach the dough hook and mix until fully combined.
  • Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Preparing the Filling:

  • In a small bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until combined.
  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface or silicone mat into a rectangle approximately 16–18 inches long, 12 inches wide, and ¼ inch thick.
  • Spread the filling evenly over the dough. Alternatively, you can spread the butter first, followed by the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

Rolling and Slicing:

  • Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log about 18 inches long.
  • Slice the log into 1½-inch pieces.
  • Place the rolls into a greased 13×9-inch baking pan. Cover them with a damp towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Baking the Rolls:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. (Your kitchen will smell incredible!)

Making the Icing:

  • While the rolls bake, combine all icing ingredients in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy

NOTES

Make-Ahead Option:
To save time in the morning, prepare the rolls the night before. Follow the recipe up to the point where the rolls are sliced and placed in the pan. Instead of letting them rise a second time, cover the pan and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, take the pan out and let the rolls rise until doubled in size (this may take 15–30 minutes longer since they’ll be cold). Bake as directed and enjoy fresh, warm cinnamon rolls with minimal morning effort!
