This sugar cookie icing recipe is perfect for creating beautifully decorated cookies with ease. It’s soft yet stackable, making it the ultimate cookie icing for any occasion!
Ingredients
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2-4 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup or honey (see notes)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla, almond, peppermint, or coconut extract
- Food coloring
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, corn syrup (or honey), and your chosen extract. Gradually add more milk until the icing reaches your desired consistency. For piping and spreading, aim for a thicker consistency; for dipping, go for a thinner texture.
- Use the icing to pipe, spread, or dip onto fully cooled cookies. If decorating with sprinkles, apply them before the icing sets.
Notes
- Corn syrup creates an icing that dries soft but stackable. Honey, on the other hand, results in a softer icing that isn’t ideal for stacking.
- Ensure cookies are completely cooled before applying the icing.
