THE BEST SUGAR COOKIE ICING RECIPE FOR DECORATING

This sugar cookie icing recipe is perfect for creating beautifully decorated cookies with ease. It’s soft yet stackable, making it the ultimate cookie icing for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup or honey (see notes)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla, almond, peppermint, or coconut extract
  • Food coloring

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, corn syrup (or honey), and your chosen extract. Gradually add more milk until the icing reaches your desired consistency. For piping and spreading, aim for a thicker consistency; for dipping, go for a thinner texture.
  • Use the icing to pipe, spread, or dip onto fully cooled cookies. If decorating with sprinkles, apply them before the icing sets.

Notes

  • Corn syrup creates an icing that dries soft but stackable. Honey, on the other hand, results in a softer icing that isn’t ideal for stacking.
  • Ensure cookies are completely cooled before applying the icing.
