TRIO OF ASIAN DIPPING SAUCES

A trio of Asian dipping sauces—sweet, spicy, and savory—brings together classic flavors that perfectly complement spring rolls and egg rolls. These authentic sauces can be made ahead of time and brought to room temperature when ready to serve. Incredibly versatile, they also pair beautifully with dumplings, potstickers, and Japanese gyoza.

INGREDIENTS

Honey Sesame Sauce

  • ½ cup (68g) honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup (34g) low-sodium soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • Toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Spicy Soy Sauce

  • ½ cup (118ml) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons chili sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • Chopped scallions/spring onions for garnish

Savory Peanut Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • ¾ cup (102g) peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • Warm water, as needed to thin the sauce
  • Chopped peanuts for garnish (optional, omit if using chunky peanut butter)

INSTRUCTIONS

Honey Sesame Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, and soy sauce until well combined.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with grated ginger and toasted sesame seeds.

Spicy Soy Sauce

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, chili sauce, and honey until fully combined.
  • Pour into a serving bowl and garnish with chopped scallions/spring onions.

Savory Peanut Sauce

  • In a small bowl, combine hoisin sauce, peanut butter, and soy sauce.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of warm water (or more as needed) to achieve the desired consistency. Whisk until smooth.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl and top with chopped peanuts, if desired.
