Why We Love This
Not only do I feel better knowing exactly what my family is using, but we’re also saving money! If you’ve looked at the ingredients on deodorants or other daily products lately, it’s overwhelming. Some of those words are hard to even pronounce! I have peace of mind knowing my family is using all-natural products, with no worries about harsh chemicals in this homemade deodorant that prevents body odor and bacteria.
Making your own natural products is so much more affordable than buying them. It’s so easy, you can even make a double batch!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup shea butter
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- 2 tablespoons arrow root (find in the baking/spice aisle at most grocery stores)
- essential oils (we used tea tree oil and lavender oil)
- empty solid deodorant container. You can reuse an old container.
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1: Add shea butter and coconut oil to a measuring cup or bowl with a spout. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir to combine.
Step 2: Return the mixture to the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring every 20 seconds until fully melted.
Step 3: Stir in the baking soda and arrowroot powder, mixing until well combined.
Step 4: Add the essential oils, using about 3 drops of each. Mix well to combine.
Step 5: Pour the mixture into a deodorant container and secure the top.
Step 6: Place the DIY deodorant in the refrigerator to set. After 2 hours, remove it and use it like conventional deodorant under your armpits.
