Hi everyone! It’s Megan from Homemade Ginger again, and today I’m sharing a super simple yet adorable craft that’s perfect for kids to do with minimal help!
Like many of us, I have tons of photos stored on my phone and computer but not many printed out and displayed around the house. Getting those photos printed always feels like a big task. Lately, I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to have real photos in my home, and I’m always looking for easy ways to display and switch them out. I made some copper wire photo holders that I adore, but this time I wanted to come up with a version that kids could create on their own.
These rock photo holders are quick to make and budget-friendly. You can easily find smooth river rocks at your local craft store, and copper wire is available almost everywhere. Just paint the rocks in solid colors or experiment with patterns. If you prefer a more rustic vibe, you could skip the paint entirely! These cute little photo holders would make a wonderful gift for Father’s Day or a special surprise for Dad or Grandpa. Can you imagine how adorable they’d look on an office desk?
I loved the idea of these rock photo holders so much that I decided to add my own twist by making them bright and colorful! The beauty of this craft is how easily it can be customized to match any decor. You can paint the rocks in vibrant hues to add a playful touch, or go for a more elegant look by choosing classic colors like white or gray for a sleek, classy finish. The possibilities are endless, and they’ll fit seamlessly into any space!

It’s hard to believe how easy these are!
Equipment:
- Needle nose pliers
Materials:
- Smooth rocks
- Copper wire
- Acrylic paint
- Mod Podge
Instructions:
Paint the rock with a solid color, applying additional coats as needed to achieve full opacity.
Once the paint is dry, use a small brush to add patterns such as polka dots, lines, or any design you like.
After the patterns have dried, apply a layer of Mod Podge to seal and preserve the paint’s color.
Wrap the wire around a pen or marker several times to create loops. These loops will serve as the spot to hold your photo.
Straighten the remaining wire beneath the loops, then wrap it around the stone to secure it in place.
Insert a photo between the loops to keep it standing upright.
Your rock photo holder is now complete and ready to display your favorite memories!
Make a few—or even a bunch—of these rock photo holders to give away as gifts. Your kids will have a blast helping with this fun and easy project!
