Love is in the air—or perhaps I should say, love is in the yarn! I’m excited to share my free crochet heart pattern with you, perfect for spreading some ♡ and making use of your yarn stash! This fun stash-busting project can be used to enhance your gift packaging, create a lovely wall hanging, or even embellish other projects. Happy crocheting!
MATERIALS
- Crochet Hook: Any size you prefer!
- Yarn: Any type you have on hand!
- Other Supplies: Scissors
For the hearts shown in the photos, I used a 6.5mm crochet hook and scraps of Vanna’s Choice yarn by Lion Brand. Feel free to choose any hook size to create your desired heart size, and use any type and weight of yarn.

- Sl St: Slip Stitch
- Ch: Chain
- Sc: Single Crochet
- Dc: Double Crochet
- Tr: Treble Crochet
Notes:
- This pattern is suitable for easy/beginner-level crocheters.
- The pattern is written in US crochet terms.
- When you see a number before a stitch (e.g., “2sc”), it means to work 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch.
- If a number follows a stitch (e.g., “sc 2”), it means to work 1 single crochet into each of the next 2 stitches.
CROCHET HEART PATTERN
ROUND 1
- Make a magic ring and chain 3.
- Work:
- 2 Treble Crochets (Tr)
- 3 Double Crochets (Dc)
- 1 Treble Crochet (Tr)
- 3 Double Crochets (Dc)
- 2 Treble Crochets (Tr)
- Chain 3.
- Pull the magic ring to close it and finish the round with a Slip Stitch (Sl St) through the center.
ROUND 2
- Slip Stitch (Sl St) 1 and Single Crochet (Sc) 1 into the chain space.
- Work 2 Single Crochets (2sc) into each of the next 2 Treble Crochet stitches (Tr).
- Single Crochet (Sc) 1 into each of the next 3 Double Crochet stitches (Dc).
- Work 1 Single Crochet (Sc), chain 2 (Ch 2), and 1 Single Crochet (Sc) into the Treble Crochet stitch at the tip of the heart.
- Single Crochet (Sc) 1 into each of the next 3 Double Crochet stitches (Dc).
- Work 2 Single Crochets (2sc) into each of the next 2 Treble Crochet stitches (Tr).
- Slip Stitch (Sl St) 1 into the chain space.
- Slip Stitch (Sl St) through the center of the heart.
- Chain 1, cut the yarn, and fasten off.
Tip: Leave longer tails at the beginning and end if you want to tie your heart onto something.
FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
- Insert your hook into the center of the heart.
- Pull the ending tail through to the back of the heart.
- Tie both tails together.
- Weave in the ends, or leave them out if you plan to attach your heart to something else.
