INGREDIENTS
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
For the Korean Beef Bowls:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 3 green onions, sliced (separate the green and white parts)
- 4 eggs
- 4 teaspoons butter
- 1 ½ cups cooked rice
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients and set aside.
- Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up as it browns, for about 4–6 minutes.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and bring to a simmer. Stir in the white parts of the green onions and cook for 3–4 minutes.
- While the beef is simmering, fry the eggs: Heat a separate frying pan over medium heat, then add the butter. Once the butter has melted, crack the eggs into the pan, being careful not to break the yolks. Lower the heat and cook until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your desired level of doneness (about 4–5 minutes).
- To assemble the Korean beef bowls: Place rice in a bowl, top with the Korean ground beef, and then add a fried egg on top.
- Garnish with the green parts of the green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
