INGREDIENTS
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef (93% lean)
- 1/4 cup red wine (or water as a substitute)
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (28 oz) can petite diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- Red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat oil and butter in a Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat.
- Sauté the onion for 4-5 minutes, until translucent with a slight golden color.
