INGREDIENTS
For the Donuts
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup plain, non-fat yogurt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a standard donut pan and set it aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, yogurt, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry, stirring until just combined (the batter will be a little thick and lumpy).
- Spoon the batter into a large ziplock bag and cut off a corner to create a makeshift piping bag. Pipe the batter into the donut molds, filling them about three-quarters full. Bake for 10 minutes. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before coating them in cinnamon sugar.
- To prepare the cinnamon sugar, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Using a brush, lightly coat each donut with melted butter, then dip both sides into the cinnamon sugar mixture. For an extra sweet coating, dip each donut twice. Serve and enjoy!
