These keto mozzarella sticks are one of the ultimate keto appetizers! With a perfectly gooey, cheesy center and a delightfully crispy exterior, they’re bursting with flavor in every bite. Plus, they’re incredibly easy to make, and each cheese stick contains less than 1 NET CARB!
INGREDIENTS
- 6 mozzarella sticks (200g), cut in half
- 1 large egg, beaten
- ½ cup (56g) almond flour
- ½ cup (45g) grated parmesan cheese
- 1-2 tablespoons (7-14g) coconut flour
- ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
INSTRUCTIONS
- Beat the egg in a small bowl until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the almond flour, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and sea salt.
- Place the coconut flour in a third bowl.
- Slice the mozzarella sticks in half, creating 12 smaller pieces.
- To coat the mozzarella sticks:
- Roll each piece in the coconut flour.
- Dip it into the beaten egg.
- Coat it thoroughly with the almond flour mixture.
Repeat until all mozzarella sticks are coated.
- Arrange the coated sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F, ensuring it’s at least half an inch deep.
- Fry the mozzarella sticks until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack to drain excess oil.
