HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PANCAKE SYRUP

If you’re a pancake lover who’s not a fan of the artificial ingredients in store-bought syrup, this recipe is for you! With just four simple ingredients, you can whip up a delicious homemade pancake syrup in no time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅔ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (or ½ teaspoon maple extract, or 1 teaspoon maple flavoring)

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, and ⅔ cup water at room temperature. Whisk to combine.
  • Cook on medium heat, continuing to whisk, until the mixture begins to boil.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low, keeping the mixture at a gentle simmer. The syrup should reach about 150°F (65°C). Stir in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Remove from heat and let the syrup cool.
  • Once cooled, transfer the syrup to glass jars or airtight containers.

Notes: The syrup will thicken as it cools. Store it in a cool, dark place or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
