HOMEMADE BOUILLON POWDER

This homemade bouillon powder is incredibly easy to make, packed with flavor, and a much healthier alternative to store-bought versions. Naturally vegetarian, it tastes just like chicken bouillon and works perfectly as a chicken broth substitute. It’s so delicious, you’ll want to sprinkle this amazing spice blend on everything!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 cup salt (Himalayan pink salt or sea salt recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Blend It: Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until fine and powdery.
  • Store It: Transfer to an airtight container or sealed jar and store in a cool, dry place for up to one year.

NOTES & TIPS

  • Mixing Option: Instead of blending, you can simply stir the ingredients together for a more textured version. The flavor won’t be as concentrated, but it will still be delicious!
  • Storage: Keep in a sealed jar in a cool, dry place away from direct light. If your ingredients are fresh, the bouillon will stay good for up to a year. Small mason jars, like 8-oz Ball jars or wide-mouth half-pint jars, work well. Labeling with chalk labels and markers adds a nice touch!
  • Chicken Broth Substitute: Use 1 teaspoon per cup of hot water (or adjust to taste). If using the stirred version, use 1 tablespoon instead, as it’s less concentrated.
  • Ways to Use: This versatile seasoning enhances soups, sauces, rice dishes, and more! Check out the “Ways to Use It” section in the post for ideas.
  • Recipe Variations: Customize the herbs and spices to your liking. The only essential ingredient is nutritional yeast, as it provides the signature chicken bouillon flavor. For a variation, try this blend using Herbamare:
    • 1 cup nutritional yeast
    • 2 tablespoons salt
    • 2 tablespoons Herbamare
    • 2 tablespoons onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric

This bouillon powder is so flavorful, you’ll want to add it to everything!
