INGREDIENTS
- 8 ounces rotini pasta (or another short pasta)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup beef broth/stock
- 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Brown the beef until fully cooked, then drain the excess grease.
- Return the beef to the skillet and add the minced garlic. Cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Stir in the Italian seasoning and beef broth, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add the marinara sauce, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it cook uncovered for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the heavy cream and shredded cheese until the cheese melts and everything is well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Serve immediately.
