This one is sure to please even the pickiest eaters!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/4 lb. ground chuck
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 1/4 cups small curd cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions (or less to taste)
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground chuck. Drain the fat, then stir in the tomato sauce, salt, and a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper. Let it simmer while you prepare the other ingredients.
- Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the sour cream and cottage cheese. Add freshly ground black pepper to taste, then stir this mixture into the drained noodles. Mix in the green onions.
- To assemble, spread half of the noodle mixture in a baking dish. Top with half of the meat mixture, then sprinkle with half of the grated cheddar cheese. Repeat the layering with the remaining noodles, meat, and cheese.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted. Serve with crusty French bread. Enjoy!
