FREE CROCHET PATTERN – BABY LOVEY, LAMB

Meet my Little Mary Lamb Lovey pattern—one of my most beloved creations! This adorable and comforting design is perfectly sized for little hands, making it easy for children to hold and carry wherever they go. Materials

  • Yarn:
    • Paintbox Chenille Yarn: Approximately 80m
    • Cotton Yarn: Approximately 20-30m
    • Scrap Yarn: For the bow, eyes, and nose
  • Hooks:
    • 3.0mm: For face, ears, and bow (used with chenille yarn)
    • 5.0mm: For the head
    • 6.0mm: For the “body”
  • Other Tools:
    • Stitch Marker
    • Scissors
    • Needle

HEAD

  • Start with cotton yarn and a 3.0mm crochet hook. Make a magic ring.
  • 6 sc into the magic ring (6).
  • 2 sc in each stitch around (12).
  • 2 sc, 1 sc in the next stitch x6 (18).
  • 1 sc in each stitch around (18).
  • 2 sc, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches x6 (24).
  • 1 sc in each stitch around (24).
  • 1 sc in each stitch for 5 more rounds (24).
  • 1 sc in each stitch until the last stitch, sl st into the last stitch.Change to chenille yarn and switch to a 5.0mm crochet hook.
  • Fasten the chenille yarn in the same stitch as the last round’s sl st. 1 sc in the same stitch and in each stitch around (24).
  • 1 sc in each stitch for 3 more rounds (24).
  • Sc2tog, 1 sc in 2 stitches x6 (18).
  • Sc2tog, 1 sc x6 (12).
  • Stuff the head.
  • Sc2tog x6 (6).

    Now your head is ready! Continue with the rest of the pattern for assembly and finishing touches.

    ears

    Make 2:

    With cotton yarn and a 3.0mm crochet hook, make a magic ring.

    • 6 sc into the magic ring (6).
    • 2 sc in each stitch around (12).
    • 2 sc, 1 sc in the next stitch x6 (18).
    • 1 sc in each stitch around (18).
    • 2 sc, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches x6 (24).
    • 1 sc in each stitch around (24).
    • 1 sc in each stitch for 2 more rounds (24).
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

      Now you have 2 ears ready to be attached to the head!

      bow

      • With scrap yarn and a 3.0mm crochet hook, ch 6.
      • Into the second ch from the hook, make 1 sc, then 1 sc in each stitch across (5). Ch 1, turn.
      • Repeat step 2 for 9 more rows (10 rows total of 1 sc in each stitch across, turning at the end of each row).
      • Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

        Now, using chenille yarn, wrap it around the center of the bow to create a gathered effect. Secure the ends of the chenille yarn.

        Finally, sew the bow onto the head. Your cute bow is ready!

        body

        • With chenille yarn and a 6.0mm crochet hook, ch 2.
        • In the third ch from the hook, make 1 dc in each ch across (24). Ch 2, turn.
        • Repeat step 2 for 14 more rows (15 rows total of 1 dc in each stitch, turning at the end of each row).
        • Fasten off and weave in the ends.

          ASSEMBLY

          • Measure where you want the head to be placed on the body.
          • Sew the head securely onto one of the short sides of the body.
          • Wrap the yarn around each corner of the body to form hands and feet.
          • Fasten the yarn extremely well to ensure it stays in place, especially after washing.

            Your body is now complete and ready to be attached to the head!
