BANANA BREAD RECIPE

This moist banana bread is bursting with sweet banana flavor and is my go-to one-bowl recipe for a delicious quick bread. It’s a classic family recipe from my husband that’s perfect for breakfast, snacks, or a sweet treat any time of day.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons sour milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 bananas (mashed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

Mix-Ins

  • ½ cup walnuts (or other tree nuts)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Line a bread pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Spray the corners with baking spray to prevent sticking.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the eggs and sour milk until foamy.
  • Use a fork to mash the bananas, then add the mashed bananas, salt, baking powder, baking soda, flour, sugar, and vegetable oil. Stir until well combined.
  • If desired, fold in walnuts and/or raisins.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and transfer it to the preheated oven.
  • Bake for one hour. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean when the bread is finished baking.
  • Allow the hot bread to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before lifting it out using the parchment paper overhang. Place it on a cooling rack until completely cool.

Notes

  • To make sour milk, add one teaspoon of white vinegar to regular milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
