HAM & CHEESE BUTTER SWIM BISCUITS

These indulgent Ham & Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits are soft, buttery buttermilk biscuits filled with sharp cheddar, leftover ham, garlic, and chives, creating a mouthwatering combination perfect for a breakfast or brunch treat.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar, cubed
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 1/4 cup diced chives
  • 2 cups buttermilk

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Place the butter in a 10-inch cast iron skillet or a deep 9×9 pan. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes while it preheats, until the butter is fully melted.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Stir in the ham, cheese, and chives. Add the buttermilk and mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  • Spread the dough over the melted butter. Using a pastry cutter or knife, slice the dough into 8-10 biscuit portions.
  • Bake at 450°F for 20-30 minutes, until the tops are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the biscuits rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
