Garlic butter rice is a simple yet flavorful dish that elevates plain rice to new heights. It’s a perfect side dish for any meal, from grilled meats to roasted vegetables. With just a few ingredients and minimal effort, you can create a dish that’s both comforting and satisfying.
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup margarine (or softened butter)
- 1/2 cup white rice (or jasmine rice)
- 1-2 chicken bouillon cubes (depending on size) or 3 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules (or powder)
- 1 1/2 cups water or chicken broth
- 2-3 tablespoons chopped garlic (or minced garlic)
Directions:
- In a 10″ skillet, melt the butter or margarine over medium-high heat.
- Add the rice and stir to coat evenly.
- Break apart the bouillon cube(s) and add them to the skillet, stirring until they soften or dissolve.
- Keep an eye on the rice to ensure it doesn’t brown. Lower the heat if needed to prevent this.
- Pour in the water (or chicken broth) and stir.
- Cover the skillet and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the rice is nearly tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Add the garlic, stir, then cover again and continue cooking for 5 more minutes until the rice is fully tender and the remaining liquid is absorbed.
- There may still be some melted butter at the bottom, which is fine. Stir well and turn off the burner.
- Let the skillet sit on the burner until you’re ready to serve.
