SLOW COOKER HONEY ORANGE CHICKEN

Slow cooker honey orange chicken delivers the delicious taste of Chinese takeout without the breading and excess oil!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 2-inch cubes
  • ½ cup orange marmalade
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup honey BBQ sauce
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes

For Serving:

  • Brown rice
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Optional: Stir in orange zest at the end for an extra burst of flavor!

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Spray the inside of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Add all ingredients and stir to combine.
  • Cover and cook on high for 4 hours, stirring halfway through. Once cooking is complete, reduce the slow cooker to warm and let it rest for an additional hour to allow the sauce to thicken.
  • Serve immediately with brown rice, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes: The sauce’s thickness will vary depending on the BBQ sauce and orange marmalade used. For thicker sauce, allow the chicken to rest on “warm” or refrigerate overnight. You can also create a cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce if desired.
