I have styled my console tables in so many different ways over the years, and today I’m excited to share three of my favorites. Along with these ideas, I’ll be sharing decor I adore and a few helpful tips. Get ready for three console table decorating ideas you will cherish!
NO TABLE LAMP, NO PROBLEM
For the first option, I’ll show you how to decorate a console table without using a table lamp. Start by following the principle of balance: instead of a lamp, incorporate a few stylish candlesticks alongside some artwork leaning against the opposite vase filled with faux stems. To complete the final look, add a stack of books on the coffee table, topped with a small vase for an elegant touch.
EXTRA SEATING & OVERSIZED ARTWORK
In look number two, I balanced oversized artwork above the console table with upholstered stools positioned below. To create harmony in the arrangement, I paired a table lamp with an oversized pot and preserved eucalyptus stems. I love incorporating stools into a console table setup, whether in a living room or entryway. In the entryway, they provide a convenient spot for guests to sit while taking off their shoes. In the living room, the stools offer extra seating, making them both stylish and functional.
BASKETS BELOW, A LARGE MIRROR ABOVE
In the third look, I styled a large mirror above the console table with baskets below, creating a balanced vignette. These baskets are perfect for storing extra pillows and blankets, as well as shoes, winter accessories, towels, bedding, umbrellas, and more. Next, I added a table lamp, and opposite it on the console table, I placed a large crock filled with faux greenery. To complete the arrangement, I topped a favorite coffee table book with a stylish concrete bowl in the center.
CONSOLE TABLE STYLING TIPS
Did you catch the theme from above? Balance. Balance is the key word when styling console tables. Aim to balance the top with the bottom and create symmetry from left to right. A large mirror or artwork above pairs beautifully with a large basket, stool, or ottoman below. If you have a table lamp on one side, consider adding height with a large vase or candleholders on the opposite side!
But my number one tip is to have fun with it! Pull out all your decor and start experimenting. I don’t just stumble upon these vignettes; it takes a lot of trial and error. It’s all about placing a few items, moving them around, and deciding what works best.
Note: All these tips are also perfect for decorating your bedroom dresser!
