UK to US Stitch Conversion:
- Single Crochet (sc) in the US is the same as Double Crochet (dc) in the UK.
- Double Crochet (dc) in the US is the same as Treble Crochet (tr) in the UK.
- Chain (ch): A foundational stitch creating a chain of loops, where tension is key to even stitches.
FREE CROCHET V-STITCH BLANKET PATTERN
This v-stitch blanket is ideal for beginners and is made with the double crochet stitch. Follow along with this video tutorial to master the v-stitch.
- Chain 184
- Row 1: dc in the 5th ch from the hook. Skip 2 ch, v stitch into the next ch space. Repeat from * to * across the row until 3 chains remain. Skip 2 and dc in the last ch.
- Row 2: ch 4, dc in the same stitch. Skip the next dc and ch, v stitch into the next dc. Repeat from * to * across the row, ending with dc in the last stitch.
- Repeat until your blanket reaches the desired length.
BORDER PATTERN
Melissa used 2 balls of Spotlight’s Spot Saver yarn in nature for the border.
- Row 1: Join the border yarn with a slip stitch to the starting row (you’ll be working on the opposite side of the initial chains). Chain 2, dc in the same space, and continue to dc across. – 158 dc
- Row 2: ch 1, sc in the same stitch. Skip the next stitch, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, sc in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, (1 dc, ch 3, 1 dc) in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, sc in the next stitch, repeat from * to * until 4 stitches remain, skip the next stitch, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, sc in the last stitch. Turn.
- Row 3: ch 1, sc in the same stitch, sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the ch 1 space, (5 dc, picot, 5 dc) in the next ch 3 space, sc in the next ch 1 space, repeat from ** to the last ch 3 space.
Finish off, weave in any loose ends, and add tassels for a finishing touch.
