CINNAMON WALNUTS

With just a few simple ingredients, you can make these irresistible Cinnamon Walnuts! They’re crisp, buttery, and perfectly balanced with a warm maple-cinnamon flavor that’s not too sweet. This easy small-batch recipe is perfect for a party snack or a thoughtful holiday gift!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1½ teaspoons olive oil (see note)
  • 1/4 teaspoon + 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup raw shelled walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon organic granulated sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat your toaster oven to 325°F with the rack in the lowest position. If using a traditional oven, place the rack in the middle.
  • Lightly coat a small rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and sea salt. Add the walnuts and stir until evenly coated.
  • Spread the walnuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 13 to 17 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the nuts are golden and fragrant.
  • Meanwhile, mix the granulated sugar with the remaining 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Once the walnuts are done, remove them from the oven and immediately sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Let sit for 30 seconds, then stir and spread them back into a single layer.
  • Allow the nuts to cool completely on the pan for about 30 minutes—they will continue to crisp up as they cool.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container.

NOTES

  • Oil Options: Regular olive oil works well, while extra-virgin olive oil adds a more pronounced flavor. Melted coconut oil is another great option but may introduce a subtle coconut taste.
  • Storage: Keep walnuts in a sealed container at room temperature for up to 7 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
