This one-pan taco skillet features flavorful seasoned ground beef, black beans, salsa, and a deliciously cheesy topping! Ready in just 30 minutes.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 (14 oz.) can black beans, drained & rinsed
- 1 (14.5 oz.) jar salsa (use your favorite)
- 4 medium flour tortillas, cut into quarters
- 1 cup shredded Tex-Mex cheese blend
- Optional toppings: sour cream, chopped scallions, cilantro, avocado, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onions. Break the meat apart with a spoon, then stir in the spices. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Preheat the oven broiler to high and position the rack in the top third of the oven.
- Reduce heat to medium, then add the black beans, salsa, and tortilla pieces. Gently toss until the tortillas are evenly distributed throughout the skillet. (See note below if you prefer firmer tortillas.)
- Let the mixture heat through for a few minutes.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top, then transfer the skillet to the oven. Broil for a few minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
- Serve immediately with your favorite toppings. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
NOTES
- The tortillas will absorb some liquid and soften. If you prefer them firmer, you can either omit them entirely and serve them on the side or layer them on top of the meat (without stirring) before adding the cheese and broiling.
