These homemade whole-grain tortilla chips are the ideal healthy snack. Baked to a crispy crunch, they’re great for dipping in salsa, serving with your favorite dips, or simply seasoning with a pinch of sea salt.
INGREDIENTS
- 6 whole grain or multi-seed flour tortillas
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- Optional seasonings: chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, or cumin
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Tortillas: Lightly brush both sides of each tortilla with olive oil. Stack the tortillas and cut them into triangles. The size of the chips depends on the size of your tortillas.
- Season: Arrange the tortilla triangles in a single layer on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with sea salt and, if desired, add any optional seasonings for extra flavor.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 8-12 minutes. Flip the chips halfway through to ensure even baking and crispiness.
- Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the chips from the oven, sprinkle with a little extra sea salt, and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. The chips will continue to crisp up as they cool. Serve and enjoy!
NOTES
- Tortilla Type: This recipe works well with whole grain, multi-seed, or even corn tortillas.
- Uniformity is Key: Cut the tortillas into uniform triangles for even baking.
- Watch the Oven: Oven temperatures vary, so keep an eye on the chips to avoid burning.
- Storage: Store any leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them crisp.
