INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 5 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square (or round) baking pan and mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt directly in the pan.
  • Create three depressions in the dry ingredients—two small ones and one large. Pour the vinegar and vanilla into the smaller depressions, and the vegetable oil into the large one.
  • Pour water over everything and mix until smooth.
