Looking to transform your front door for fall? This project goes beyond the traditional wreath and offers a complete fall makeover. I’ve incorporated classic autumn colors to create a stunning and inviting entrance. Join me as I reveal my fall front door transformation!
October has arrived, and it’s the perfect time to transform my front porch into a cozy autumnal retreat. I’m excited to share my unique decorating ideas and create a warm welcome for guests.
MAKE THE BASE:
I began with three long, narrow strips of styrofoam, each measuring approximately 2 inches by 2 inches by 36 inches. After cutting these strips, I attached a hook to the top of two of them and one to the center of the third strip.
To ensure the hooks are secure, I coiled a half-pipe cleaner around the base of each hook and pressed it into the styrofoam. This provides extra support and prevents the hooks from slipping out.
I folded a wire in half and threaded both ends through my coil, which will prevent the wire from cutting through the foam.
On the backside of my foam, I used a button method to prevent the wire from cutting through the material. After threading the wire through the button, I twisted the two ends into a loop, creating a hanger to attach the foam to a Command hook.

START DECORATING
Now for the fun part! I started by adding fall flowers to the styrofoam. Most of them went directly into the foam and stayed securely in place. For any pieces that didn’t feel as stable, I used my glue gun on a low setting to secure them.
I positioned the flowers and fall leaves toward the front of the styrofoam for maximum visibility. Once the fall foliage and blooms were in place, I added an assortment of pumpkins and a variety of gourds to complete the look.
To keep my decorations narrow along the sides of my front door, I used low-temperature hot glue and a package of Dollar Tree fall leaves to cover the edges of the styrofoam.
I repeated this process for each side of the front door and for the third piece of foam above the door. To complete the look on my front porch, I added corn stalks to the railings, a fall welcome mat, and a plaid throw on one of the chairs. Instead of a traditional wreath, I styled a swag adorned with fall blooms and faux pumpkins to match the decorations around the door frame.
