EQUIPMENT
- Non-Stick Pan
- 1.5 Litre Mixing Bowl
- Deep Saucepan
- 500 ml Mixing Bowl
INGREDIENTS
- 3 medium-sized raw potatoes
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, chopped
- Rock salt, to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tsp desi ghee
INSTRUCTIONS
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all the required ingredients.
- Grate the Potatoes: Peel and wash the potatoes thoroughly, then soak them in water. Using the small side of a grater, shred the potatoes finely. Grate all the potatoes.
- Mix Ingredients: Once grated, add the rock salt, black pepper powder, chopped green chilies, and coriander leaves to the grated potatoes. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Heat the Pan: Place a non-stick pan on medium heat and add 1 tsp of desi ghee. Allow it to melt and spread evenly.
- Shape the Cheelas: Take a tablespoon of the potato mixture and place it onto the hot pan. Using the back of the spoon, spread the mixture into a round shape, about 1/2 cm thick. Keep it slightly thick, as spreading too thin may cause the cheela to break.
- Cook the Cheelas: Cook the cheela for 2-3 minutes on medium flame until the bottom turns slightly brown.
- Flip and Roast: Carefully flip the cheela and roast the other side until it turns golden brown with spots.
- Serve: Once both sides are well-cooked, transfer the cheela to a plate. Continue making the remaining cheelas.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve the falahari cheela with vrat ki chutney or plain curd for a delightful meal.
