Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 pounds thick-cut bacon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with aluminum foil.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  • Lay the bacon strips flat on the baking sheets, making sure they don’t overlap.
  • Generously sprinkle the brown sugar and pepper mixture over the bacon, pressing gently to coat evenly.
  • Bake one sheet at a time for 16 to 18 minutes, keeping an eye on it. Let the bacon cool on a rack before serving.

Notes

  • The bacon will have a slightly sticky texture.
  • For best results, use the thickest-cut bacon you can find.
  • If using regular bacon, reduce the cooking time.
  • Freshly ground black pepper works best, so be sure to grind it yourself for maximum flavor.
