WHAT YOU NEED

  • 7 pieces cardstock (color of your choice)
  • Paper cutter
  • Double sided-tape
  • Circle cardboard

HOW TO MAKE PAPER DAHLIA

Step 1: Cut the cardstock into 4-inch squares

Once you have created about 60 squares, you’re ready to transform them into cones. Start by applying a piece of double-sided tape along one edge of each square. Next, take the opposite corner and fold it about halfway across the square. Then, bring the taped edge over to overlap with the corner you just folded. Press down firmly to secure the paper, ensuring the cones stay closed while you assemble your flower. Repeat this process until you have a total of 60 cones.

Step 2: To make the cone, bring the opposite corner about halfway across the square and bring the tape into the side over to overlap it.

Once you’ve finished creating the cones, it’s time to assemble them onto the circular base. Start by applying a layer of double-sided tape around the outer edge of the base. Before attaching the cones, flatten the bottom of each cone by about half an inch. Carefully press each cone onto the base, continuing around the circle to form the first layer of your flower. Ensure there’s about half an inch of space between each cone as you work.

Step 3: Create the first layer of the flower by placing the cones around the circle base about half an inch apart.

Now, let’s create the second layer. Position the cones in between the cones of the first layer, filling in the gaps. Continue working your way around the base until the second layer is complete.

Step 4: Create the second layer by placing the cones in between the first one.

Repeat the process for the third, fourth, and fifth layers, placing the cones in the gaps between the previous layers. Continue working your way around the base until each layer is filled, creating a full and vibrant flower.

Step 5: Continue working for the third, fourth and fifth layers.

And you’re done! Feel free to create more paper dahlias in any color of your choice to add variety and vibrancy to your floral display. Happy crafting! You can also make additional paper dahlias in the desired colors and sizes.
