COPYCAT MUMBO® SAUCE

This homemade copycat Mumbo sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, made with just five simple ingredients. It’s a must-try with chicken wings, french fries, and fried shrimp! If you’ve never had Mumbo sauce before, you’re in for a delicious surprise. This sweet and spicy sauce has a familiar taste—but trust me, it’s even better. Plus, it pairs perfectly with all your favorite fried foods!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ cup hot sauce
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar

INSTRUCTIONS

  • In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring continuously, for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Let the sauce cool before using, or serve it warm.

STORAGE TIPS

Refrigerate: Allow the sauce to cool for 1 hour, then transfer it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Let it come to room temperature before serving.
Freeze: Cool for 2 hours before transferring to a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then bring to room temperature before serving.

NOTES

  • Hot Sauce: Texas Pete is a great choice, but feel free to use your favorite brand.
  • Yield: Makes about 2 cups.
