MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Fabric or Faux Leather (cat-themed or solid color)
  • Keychain Hardware (D-ring or swivel lobster clasp)
  • Webbing or Ribbon (optional, for added structure)
  • Sewing Machine or Fabric Glue (if you prefer no-sew)
  • Thread (matching or contrasting color)
  • Scissors or Rotary Cutter
  • Pins or Clips
  • Iron (optional, for fabric folding)
  • Cat-shaped Charm or Pendant (optional, for extra decoration)

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Cut the Material

  • Cut a strip of fabric approximately 12 inches long and 2 inches wide (adjust length to your wrist size).
  • If you’re using webbing, cut it to the same length as the fabric.

Step 2: Prepare the Fabric

  • Fold the fabric in half lengthwise (wrong sides together) and iron to create a crease.
  • Open the fold and bring each long edge to the center crease. Iron again.
  • Fold along the original crease to create a clean edge. You should now have a strip that is 0.5 inches wide.

Step 3: Add Webbing (Optional)

  • If you’re using webbing, slide it inside the folded fabric for added strength. Secure with pins or clips.

Step 4: Sew the Edges

  • Sew along the edges of the folded fabric strip to secure it. Use a straight stitch about 1/8 inch from the edge on both sides.

Step 5: Attach the Keychain Hardware

  • Fold the strip in half to form a loop.
  • Slide the folded end through the keychain hardware (D-ring or clasp).
  • Overlap the ends of the strip by about 1 inch and sew securely, using a zigzag stitch or multiple rows of straight stitches.

Step 6: Decorate (Optional)

  • Attach a small cat-shaped charm or pendant to the hardware.
  • You can also use fabric with a cat pattern or add embroidery to customize.

Step 7: Finish and Test

  • Trim any loose threads.
  • Test the wristlet to ensure it’s sturdy and fits comfortably around your wrist.

TIPS

  • Fabric Choices: Choose a durable fabric like canvas, denim, or faux leather for a sturdy wristlet.
  • No-Sew Option: Use fabric glue or iron-on hem tape to secure the folds if you don’t want to sew.
  • Custom Length: Adjust the fabric length based on your wrist size or preference.
