A classic wool coat is the ideal way to complete your winter look. Whether you’re dressing up leggings and sneakers or adding a polished touch to your work wardrobe, it’s a versatile piece. While oversized coats are trending this season with their roomy, long silhouettes, I’ve found a few options that perfectly balance the trend with a fit that flatters petites. These picks are sure to elevate your winter style.
Abercrombie Tailored Topcoat
The last coat in my lineup is the Tailored Topcoat from Abercrombie. This coat offers the most room and has the longest sleeves out of all the styles I’ve shared, but it still fits well enough that I felt it was worth including. It strikes a nice balance between the trendy long, oversized fit and a petite-friendly silhouette. I love that it comes in several color options, and I’m wearing it here in Petite XXS. It’s a great choice for those who want a more relaxed, yet flattering look.
J.Crew Mirabelle Coat
I’m starting with what I think has the best overall fit: the Mirabelle Topcoat from J.Crew. This coat is made from a luxurious wool and cashmere blend and is fully lined – it’s absolutely beautiful. The fit is true to size, with a perfect fit through the shoulders and great sleeve length. The sleeves are a bit slim, so if you plan to layer underneath, I recommend sizing up. I couldn’t resist the stunning holiday red, but it’s also available in black, camel, and light blue.
Banana Republic Factory Classic Coat
What I love about the Classic Coat from Banana Republic Factory is its shorter length and timeless fit. I opted for ivory, but it’s also available in black. This coat fits me well in my true size, Petite 00/XXS, but it has a slightly looser fit compared to the J.Crew coats, with the sleeves being a bit longer as well. It’s a great option for those who prefer a classic, more relaxed silhouette.
J.Crew Factory Lady Day CoaT
The Lady Day Coat from J.Crew Factory also offers a perfect fit. This coat is cinched at the waist and gently flares out at the bottom, providing a flattering silhouette. It fits well through the shoulders and sleeves. The J.Crew Factory version is about half the price of the J.Crew coat, and while both have the same fit, there are a few differences. The J.Crew coat features covered dark buttons, whereas the Factory version has gold buttons. Additionally, the J.Crew coat is made from a wool and polyamide blend, while the Factory coat uses a wool and polyester blend. Like the Mirabelle Topcoat, the Lady Day Coat has slim sleeves, so if you’re looking for extra room, sizing up is recommended. I’m also a fan of the Boucle version of this coat—it’s a beautiful textured option.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, these petite-friendly wool coats offer a range of fits, styles, and prices to suit different preferences and needs. Whether you’re drawn to the luxurious feel of the Mirabelle Topcoat from J.Crew, the flattering silhouette of the Lady Day Coat from J.Crew Factory, the classic and relaxed fit of the Banana Republic Factory Classic Coat, or the trendy oversized style of the Abercrombie Tailored Topcoat, there’s something for everyone. Each of these coats balances style with a fit that works for petites, ensuring you stay cozy and chic all season long.
