Let’s get crafty and make some beautiful beaded snowflakes! All you need are a few simple supplies and a bit of creativity.
MATERIALS
- 2 pipe cleaners (or 3 six-inch pipe cleaners)
- 30-36 pony beads (in shades of blue and clear)
- 6 snowflake beads
- 1 rhinestone sticker
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Collect everything you’ll need for this craft. I found a pack of six-inch pipe cleaners at the craft store, which are half the length of regular pipe cleaners. These shorter pipe cleaners are perfect for simple projects like this because they don’t require any cutting or leave behind scraps! Alternatively, you can use two regular-length pipe cleaners and cut them in half.
Step 2: Twist the pipe cleaners together
Start by taking two 6″ long pipe cleaner pieces and crossing them at their mid points.
Take the right side and wrap it tightly around the top to the left side.
Next, take the left side and wrap it tightly over the top, bringing it to the right side. As long as you cross each side—left over the top once and right over the top once—they will stay securely in place.
Next, add the third pipe cleaner and repeat the same process. I didn’t twist or tie anything; I simply crossed each side of each pipe cleaner tightly over the top and brought it to the opposite side to keep them secure.
Shape the pipe cleaners so the space between each point is even.
Step 3: Add the pony beads
Begin sliding the pony beads onto each side, pushing them toward the center. I used 6 beads on each side.
Then add one snowflake bead to each of the ends.
Take the end of each pipe cleaner, bend it over, and insert it into the center of the snowflake bead, pushing it through just enough to secure it. If the hole is large enough, you can gently open the small loop at the end to help prevent the beads from sliding off.
Step 4: Place the rhinestone in the center
Next, place a medium-sized sticker rhinestone in the center, where all the pipe cleaners meet. Oh, sticker rhinestones—I’ve become obsessed with them! I get mine at the dollar store and have been using them on everything lately!
Push it in place and you’re done. Your beaded pipe cleaner snowflake is complete!
Helpful Tip: If you’re worried about the rhinestone falling off, attach it with a dot of tacky glue or hot glue.
