AIR FRYER BREAD

Making bread in the air fryer is a breeze. This straightforward recipe yields a delicious loaf with a soft, airy interior and a beautifully golden, crispy crust.

WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE

I absolutely love this air fryer bread recipe because it’s so simple to make. With just a few ingredients, I can whip up a soft loaf of white bread in no time. Plus, baking bread in the air fryer is much quicker than using the oven!

There’s nothing like the smell of fresh-baked bread straight from the air fryer. This bread also makes the perfect snack for air fryer toast—just add a little butter, jam, or honey. Since it’s so quick, I end up making it more often than oven-baked bread.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)

Egg Wash

  • 1 large egg (whisked)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • In a bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes until the yeast activates.
  • Once the yeast is activated, add the flour, sugar, milk, butter, and salt. Gently fold the ingredients together until well combined, creating a slightly flaky dough.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it until smooth. Shape it into a ball.
  • Place the dough ball into the air fryer basket, cover it with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest until it doubles in size, about 30 minutes.
  • Brush the top of the loaf with the whisked egg wash. Air fry at 320°F for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • Air frying times may vary, so add 1-2 extra minutes if needed to achieve a golden top.
  • I use instant yeast for quicker rising and no proofing, but you can substitute with active yeast. Just note that active yeast will require an additional 15-30 minutes to rise.
  • Allow the bread to cool completely before storing to prevent moisture buildup, which can cause mold or sogginess.
  • For easy removal, line your springform pan with a circle of parchment paper. If using a basket, line it with air fryer parchment paper to prevent the dough from sinking through the holes.
