These caramelized candied walnuts are an irresistible treat! Enjoy them in a salad, sprinkled over popcorn, or straight from the bowl—crunch, crunch.
I love this simple method because everything goes into the pan at once, ensuring an even coating without any sticky clumps. Unlike other techniques that require pre-toasting the nuts separately, this method roasts and candies them in one step—no unnecessary hassle.
In just 5 minutes on the stove and another 5 to cool, you’ll have perfectly caramelized walnuts that are absolutely delicious!
INGREDIENTS (MAKES 1 CUP)
- 1 cup walnut halves or pieces (or pecans)
- 1/4 cup white granulated sugar (avoid coarse sugar)
- 1 Tbsp unsalted butter

INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the walnuts, sugar, and butter.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning, especially as the sugar begins to melt.
- Once the sugar has fully melted and evenly coats the nuts, stir constantly.
- Immediately transfer the candied nuts onto a sheet of parchment paper, spreading them out quickly. Use two spatulas to separate them before they harden—unless you don’t mind one big, sticky cluster!
- Let them cool for 5-7 minutes until the coating hardens. Then, transfer to a bowl and enjoy!
